Update

Aaron and I have decided not to hold a wedding reception this coming June 2009. It is not the best time, given the softening economy. Thanks for understanding. We hope to see you all soon!

We’re Married!

Aaron & I were married on 2.7.2009 in Grand Cayman, and the trip was a success for all.

We are still waiting for our professional photographs to arrive. Meanwhile, I am trying out a new tool to share photographs we took. Try going to http://photo2.walgreens.com/groups/zielkewedding2009 to access a site where all that traveled to the wedding will have the chance to upload and share photos. At Walgreens.com, you have the choice to order prints and have them sent to the walgreens nearest you. It is very convenient to do. Or, just enjoy looking at the digital pictures online!

More soon… We are tired, and need to rest up for dinner tonight (our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple).

UPDATE: We’ve uploaded some pictures to this site; check them out here!

Delta Baggage Allowances

For everyone flying Delta, please check here for the current baggage allowances. The rules are fairly complicated, so make sure your bags fit the requirements to avoid any fees!

Notes to Ceremony Travelers, and to Macys Travel Customers

To immediate family that booked their trips through Macys Travel:

Lori has received the final trip documents, and will be mailing them out today or tomorrow. The final trip documents should answer a lot of questions you may have including:

  • Flight Confirmation Numbers & E-Ticket Numbers
  • Round Trip Airport Transportation / How it works / Where to go
  • Hotel Reservation Specifics

Before you go:

Remember that you need a passport to return to the United States. It should be current, and not expire within 6 months of your return date.

I recommend loading your Airline Rewards Number to your ticket information in advance. You can do this by going to www.delta.com and using the ticket confirmation number to bring up your flight. Remember, you can use your Northwest Airlines miles numbers with Delta.. and the rewards programs of NWA and Delta will be merging sometime in 2009!

What lies ahead: Weather.com is showing that for the last few weeks, the average LOW temperature in Grand Cayman has been 75F, and the high has been 81 to 82F. The highest in January has been 86. Lowest has been 71, on a rainy day.

Can we go now??

Success with the dress!

I had my first dress fitting over the weekend. I was successful at trimming down a touch to make it a comfortable fit. That means I only need to have the hem line done. Success! I am pleased to know that I will be able to breathe.

Final fitting is 1/19, and my mom (Missy)  will be joining me. She must go, as she needs to learn how to work all of the bells and whistles.

Island transport to the wedding

See the Ceremony –> Lodging area for comments on how guests can get to and from the wedding.

Signing the Proposal

I just turned in a signed proposal for the wedding ceremony. This means that when we arrive in February, Celebrations LTD in cooperation with The Grand Old House will be showing our wedding guests a great time!

I can feel the weight lifting off of my shoulders; all that is left to plan are minute details! If only December would come, when I go in to confirm that I fit in my wedding dress, and I will be ready to get married in Cayman.

Another hurricane… another miss

While it avoid the mainland US, Hurricane Paloma hit the Cayman Islands this past weekend. The two smaller sister islands have been severely damaged, but Grand Cayman appears to be fine. Jenny has contacted someone on the island, and all seems to be OK, with no reports of any major damage. So, everything is still a go!

We sure do like to make it interesting.
